Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal offers prayers at Hanuman temple, day after release from jail

Arvind Kejriwal will continue his duties as Delhi Chief Minister without interference from Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP). After leaving Tihar Jail without being imprisoned on Friday morning. His bail terms should not interfere with this goal.

Sources reported that Kejriwal can sign documents with the L-G’s approval from home or through official channels without visiting his workplace directly; most decisions requiring approval of L-G are approved by him, according to sources.

As part of its bail decision for Kejriwal during his Enforcement Directorate case earlier this year, the Supreme Court laid out two conditions that he must abide by: not visiting any office of chief Ministers or Delhi Secretariat and refraining from filling official documents that require clearance/approval by Lt Governor Delhi.

AAP sources noted that Kejriwal does not hold an office within the Cabinet and thus, cannot sign all documents himself. Instead, ministers with relevant portfolios sign the files on their own. Furthermore, many decisions require approval or clearance by the L-G and therefore signing files by Kejriwal is no problem.

Kejriwal can operate effectively without visiting either the CMO or Delhi Secretariat as part of his official decision-making chain, instead opting to work from his residence, compatible with AAP sources.

Kejriwal will participate freely and without restrictions or limitations as Chief Minister in his Delhi Assembly sessions.

Abhishek Manu Singhvi of Abhishek Manu Singhvi has commented on rumor circulating about Kejriwal being unable to sign documents, which was inaccurate and false.

“Thursday’s order adds nothing new or substantive to what was decided in the PMLA case on July 12,” Singhvi remarked. The ruling stated that Kejriwal is no longer allowed to oversee or sign documents except those that pertain to consideration for Lieutenant Governor positions.
