National Stadium Screen Removed
KARACHI – The National Stadium in Karachi has initiated the removal of a large digital display screen that has been obstructing perspectives for enthusiasts. The step is part of ongoing developmental paintings being achieved in advance of the ICC Champions Trophy. The display screen, positioned near the University Road end inside the Intikhab Alam Enclosure, is being dismantled in levels. The screen blocked the view for about 1,500 seats. Last month, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had expressed satisfaction with the preparations of PCB in respect of 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
Mohsin Naqvi assured the ICC board members that maintenance work at all three proposed venues will be completed before the tournament commences, as he stressed in his report which was presented on the last day of the meeting.
The board chairman also encouraged ICC members to come to Pakistan and check the arrangements personally for the much awaited event which is at February 19 to March 9 next year. The final will be played on March 9 with a reserve day of March 10.
The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy will be contested by 8 teams. Pakistan will be in Group A with India, Bangladesh and New Zealand. Group B has England, South Africa, Australia and Afghanistan.
The tournament’s matches will take place in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. The city of Lahore will have seven matches which include, among others, the final.
The opening match and one semi-final match will be staged in nak, while the second semi-final match and five other matches will be played at Rawalpindi.
